Powered by the Glove Press Pro™
At Glove Restore, we use a safe, leather-focused break-in method built around our custom Glove Press Pro™ machine. No water. No steam. No leather damage. Just a consistent, game-ready break-in.
Standard Break-In
Oil → Soft Heat → Machine Press
-
Leather-Safe Conditioning
Your glove is prepped with a premium leather-safe oil to nourish and soften the hide without oversaturation. -
Soft-Heat Treatment
The glove is gently warmed over several hours. This controlled heat relaxes the fibers safely—no water, no steam, no damage. -
Glove Press Pro™ Break-In
Once the leather is ready, we use the Glove Press Pro™ to apply consistent, targeted force to the pocket, palm, and key flex points.
The result: a soft, responsive glove that’s ready to hit the field.
Why It’s Better
- No water or steam
- No risk of drying or cracking
- Maintains glove shape and lifespan
- Fast, consistent, and safe
Advanced Break-In Prep (+$15)
Unlace → Internal Tune-Up → Re-lace → Full Break-In
For players who want maximum performance, this optional service takes your glove a step further.
We:
- Unlace the glove completely
- Remove old or crusted palm adhesive
- Thin and shape the heel pad for quicker close and smoother break-in
- Relace the glove with original glove laces
- Then perform the full oil + soft-heat + Glove Press Pro™ break-in
This is the best option for stiff gloves, older gloves, or anyone wanting a “pro-level” feel right out of the box.

About the Oil We Use
Professional-Grade, Leather-Safe Conditioning
Your glove is an investment, and the products used on it matter. That’s why we use a professional, pH-balanced leather conditioner developed by specialists with decades of experience in leather repair and restoration.
This isn’t a generic oil. It’s a scientifically formulated blend designed specifically for high-quality baseball and softball glove leather.

Performance You Can Feel
Our conditioner helps your glove:
- Break in faster
- Stay soft without becoming mushy
- Maintain its structure season after season
- Feel comfortable immediately
It’s a premium, American-made formula chosen specifically to give your glove every advantage during the break-in process.
Why Removing Palm Adhesive Matters
Most gloves come from the factory with palm adhesive—a glue layer between the palm and padding that’s meant to hold materials in place during assembly. The problem is that this adhesive works against the break-in process and can even damage the glove over time.
What Palm Adhesive Does:
-
Moves around during break-in
When a glove is hit with a mallet, the adhesive doesn’t stay put. It shifts and often gets pushed into the fingers. -
Clumps the finger felt together
This creates hard glue balls inside the fingers, right in the spot where the ball makes contact. This leads to uncomfortable catches and dead spots. -
Prevents proper finger separation
The padding inside the fingers can stick together, causing poor glove shape and reducing control. -
Affects the leather from the inside
Adhesive buildup can start to imprint or harden the outer leather shell, leading to premature wear.
Why We Remove It
During the Advanced Break-In Prep, we partially unlace the heel and palm so we can:
- Remove the old adhesive
- Separate and realign the finger felt
- Smooth the internal padding
- Restore the glove’s natural structure
- Prevent long-term internal damage
Once the adhesive is cleaned out, the glove breaks in faster, cleaner, and more evenly—and the interior feels noticeably better.
Our Goal: Educate Players & Protect Gloves
A huge part of what we do at Glove Restore is educate players and parents so they can make the right decisions about their gloves. Understanding how palm adhesive affects break-in is one of the biggest pieces of that.
If you ever have questions about what’s inside your glove or how to get the most out of it, we’re always here to help
